The Emirati Human Resources Competitiveness Council (ETCC) affirmed that a female citizen working in the private sector and married to a citizen is entitled to benefit from the Children’s Allowance Programme for citizens working in the private sector under the Nafis programme in two cases: if the husband is deceased and she is supporting her children, with proof of support by a court decision, or if the husband is unable to earn or is unemployed, with supporting documentation.

The ETCC affirmed the amendment of the children’s allowance to be uncapped.

The Children’s Allowance Programme has undergone multiple changes since its launch, ETCC indicated, adding that the new updates included: children’s allowance for citizens working in the private sector without an upper limit on the number of children, after it was capped at a maximum of 4 children, with a value of Dhs600 per child, provided that the monthly salary of the citizen working in the private sector does not exceed Dhs50,000.

A new programme called “Salary Support for Wives of Citizens Working in the Private Sector” has been added, ETCC pointed out adding that it will be implemented as of September 2026.

The programme sets the minimum salary for benefiting from all “Nafis” programmes at Dhs6,000 per month for all covered categories, in conjunction with decisions regulating the minimum wages for citizens working in the private sector and the financial and banking sector.

The “Ishterak” programme to support citizens working in the private sector has also been updated, whereby the government will bear the contributions to pension funds for the citizen employee, and private sector companies will bear the full value of the employer’s contribution to pension funds for the citizen, including all citizens currently benefiting from the Nafis programme and new benefiting citizens, ETCC added.
