The world is currently witnessing deadly wars and conflicts in different regions, causing immense human suffering and destruction. However, in my opinion, the greatest threat to the existence of humanity is not war but climate change.
The recent report of France experiencing an unprecedented and record-breaking heatwave in May should serve as a serious warning to the entire world. According to Météo-France, the unusually hot weather, which lasted for more than a week, was historic and exceptional for this time of year. Such extreme weather events are becoming increasingly common and clearly demonstrate the growing impact of climate change.
Slowly but steadily, climate change has affected every aspect of life. Rising temperatures, droughts, floods, wildfires, and other natural disasters are disrupting communities, economies, and ecosystems across the globe. The alarming situation in France is yet another reminder that no country is immune to this global challenge.
United global action can help safeguard our planet and ensure a peaceful, sustainable future for present and coming generations.
