A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a collision in British Columbia left the bike suspended from a traffic signal above a busy intersection on Saturday afternoon.

Delta Police said officers responded shortly before 3 p.m. local time to the area of Scott Road near 72nd Avenue and 120th Street, on the Surrey–Delta border, following a crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan.

Authorities confirmed that the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries, while the driver of the car was not hurt.

What drew widespread attention, however, was the unusual aftermath of the impact. Images and videos shared online showed the motorcycle lodged high above the roadway, tangled around an overhead traffic light pole.

The scene quickly attracted crowds of curious onlookers, many of whom stopped to film as emergency crews worked to secure the area and prepare to bring the bike down.

Witnesses described the incident as surreal, comparing it to something out of a movie. One local resident said he initially noticed a damaged car in the middle of the intersection before looking up and spotting the motorcycle suspended above.

Another bystander said it was difficult to comprehend how the bike ended up in such a position, noting that it appeared to have wrapped itself around the traffic signal in an almost improbable way.

The crash forced the closure of Scott Road between 70th and 72nd Avenues while authorities cleared debris and worked to remove the vehicles involved.
