
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam has extended heartfelt appreciation for Pakistan’s decisive diplomatic role in facilitating ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, describing the country’s efforts as instrumental in averting a potential global crisis.
In an official statement, Muqam commended the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, whose proactive engagement placed Pakistan at the centre of high-stakes international diplomacy.
He emphasised that Pakistan’s initiative to host and mediate talks in Islamabad has reinforced its position as a responsible and peace-driven nation on the global stage.
“Pakistan has once again demonstrated that dialogue, wisdom, and leadership can prevail even in the most challenging geopolitical circumstances,” Muqam stated.
“The efforts led by Shahbaz Sharif have not only brought key stakeholders to the table but have also helped de-escalate tensions that could have had devastating global consequences.”
The minister also paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his pivotal role in maintaining strategic communication and facilitating backchannel diplomacy.
He noted that the military leadership’s coordination with civilian authorities has been crucial in ensuring continuity and trust between negotiating parties. Recent reports highlight that Pakistan played a central mediatory role, helping sustain a fragile ceasefire and keeping dialogue channels open between Washington and Tehran .
Muqam further acknowledged the significant contributions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, whose diplomatic engagement and persistent efforts ensured that both sides remained committed to dialogue and ceasefire obligations.
Pakistan’s leadership collectively worked to create an environment conducive to constructive engagement, hosting critical negotiations and urging both parties towards lasting peace.
Highlighting the broader implications, Muqam stated that Pakistan’s role has been vital in preventing the escalation of tensions into a wider conflict.
“At a time when the world stood on the brink of a larger confrontation, Pakistan’s sincere and timely intervention helped steer the situation away from what could have been a third world war,” he remarked.
