Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Claims Court ordered a man to return Dhs19,600 and a compensation of Dhs5,000 to another, who he deceived into believing he could obtain discounted airline tickets, and through this, seized the victim’s money.
In detail, a man filed a lawsuit against another, requesting a judgment obliging him to pay Dhs19,600, and Dhs15,000 in compensation for material and moral damages incurred, besides the fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
The plaintiff explained in his lawsuit that the appellee had deceived him into believing he could obtain discounted airline tickets, and he then seized Dhs19,600 from him.
He added that a criminal judgment was issued in this case, ordering the appellee to pay a compensation for the material and moral damages incurred due to the loss of money, the pain and suffering.
The court clarified in the reasoning of the judgment that, with the previous criminal judgments, this ruling became final and conclusive and the appellee had to pay the plaintiff the claimed amounts, especially since he did not appear in court and did not provide a proof of payment of this amount.
The court also explained that the appellee seized the plaintiff’s money without justification, and deprived him of its use, in addition to the loss of earnings and benefits during that period, as well as the pain he suffered required compensation of Dhs5,000.
