Dubai court fines man Dhs30,000 for drunk driving

Dubai Misdemeanour Court fined a GCC man Dhs30,000 for driving his vehicle under the influence of psychotropic substances after being pursued and apprehended.

The court also prohibited him from transferring or depositing money to others for two years and suspended his driving licence for six months.

The incident dates back to December 2025 when a security patrol suspected a vehicle driving with only one licence plate in Al Mizhar area in Dubai.

When attempting to stop it, the driver fled, necessitating a pursuit until he was apprehended in Al Qusais area.

A police man stated in the interrogations that the suspect had signs of confusion and imbalance, leading to suspicion that he was under the influence of narcotics. He was then personally searched and his car also, where tablets, medical substances, and suspicious tools were found, including syringes containing traces of blood, in addition to liquid substances.

The seized items were then transferred to the Dubai Police forensic laboratory.

Forensic reports revealed there were multiple psychotropic substances in his samples, including “amphetamine and methamphetamine,” which are listed in the schedule of narcotic substances under the Federal Decree-Law on Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and its amendments, in addition to psychotropic medications consumed through unauthorised methods.
