Armenia extends visa exemption for UAE residents

The Armenian authorities have announced the extension of the temporary decision to exempt eligible travellers from GCC countries from prior entry visas for an additional year, making the decision valid until July 1, 2027.

This decision aims to ease travel procedures, tourism and exchange between Armenia and GCC countries, allowing travellers to visit the country easily and without procedural complications throughout the coming period.

Nationals of eligible countries, who hold a valid residence permit issued by the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, United States, a European Union country or a Schengen member country are thereby exempt from entry visas between July 1, 2026 and July 1, 2027, provided that the residence permit is valid for no less than six months from the date of entry into Armenia.

Eligible travellers are permitted to stay in Armenia visa-free for up to 180 days within a single year.

A residence permit, either in the form of a residence card or an official sticker affixed to the passport, must be presented.

This decision is significant because it simplifies procedures as there is no need to wait in embassy queues, pay visa fees or complete paperwork before departure.

The decision also coincides with the summer travel season, as Armenia attracts travellers from the region due to its mild climate, beautiful nature, historical towns, ancient capital and geographical proximity to GCC countries.

“By extending this decision, we reaffirm our continued openness to welcoming more visitors and strengthening exchanges between our people,” said Lucine Gevorgyan, Head of the Tourism Committee at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

“We look forward to welcoming even more guests from GCC countries to discover Armenia and its diverse experiences,” she added.

The Armenian authorities stated that entry requirements and eligibility for visa exemption vary according to nationality and residence status.

They advised travelers to check the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for the latest instructions and to view the full list of countries covered by the visa exemption before booking.
