Brigadier General Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said that stopping in the middle of the road is one of the most dangerous violations which result in serious accidents.
This came after a man was killed and 19 others were injured in a collision between a workers’ transport bus and a truck on Al Yalayis Street after Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Street bridge towards Emirates Road, due to a sudden stop in the middle of the road.
Bin Suwaidan pointed out that experts from the inspection section of the Traffic Accidents Department rushed to the accident scene, where preliminary information indicated that the cause of the accident was the sudden stopping of the bus in the middle of the road due to a technical malfunction, and as a result of negligence, inattention, and not leaving sufficient distance by the truck driver, it collided with it from behind.
The accident resulted in the death of a man and injuries to 19 others, including 8 serious, 2 moderate, and 9 minor, who were transferred to the hospital for treatment.
