Six killed as heavy rains trigger building collapse in India

At least six people were killed after several buildings collapsed in ​the eastern suburbs of Mumbai, ‌following heavy rains that disrupted transport and forced schools to close across India’s financial capital.Indian authorities reported that a number of multi-story buildings and houses in a residential area of Mumbai collapsed, killing five children and a woman and causing significant damage to infrastructure.Rains also triggered landslides on the Mumbai-Pune expressway, forcing its closure and disrupting traffic between the two cities. Flights operations and long-distance train services were also canceled.Search and rescue operations remained underway as teams searched for people believed to be trapped beneath the rubble, amid fears that the death toll could rise.
