The UAE national karate team delegation departed on Sunday for Jordan’s capital, Amman, to compete in the 24th Asian Junior, Cadet and U21 Karate Championships, taking place from Tuesday to September 11 with the participation of a number of Asia’s leading national teams.
The championship is being held under the patronage of Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee.
The UAE delegation heads to Amman with high ambitions, aiming to compete strongly for podium places and achieve results that reflect the stature of Emirati karate.
The continental championship is one of the major events on the youth calendar and represents a genuine test of the athletes’ abilities against some of Asia’s most promising talents.
The delegation is headed by Mohammed Harbook Al Shuhhi, Member of the UAE Karate Federation Board and Financial Director. The delegation also includes Ibrahim Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Member of the UAE Karate Federation Board and Chairman of the Competitions Committee, as well as a member of the Asian Karate Federation’s Organising and Competitions Committee.
The UAE’s participation is part of the federation’s strategy to develop a new generation of karate champions capable of competing and achieving success at continental and international level. It also provides the athletes with an important opportunity to compete against Asia’s strongest karate schools and gain valuable experience to enhance their technical, physical and mental development.
The UAE athletes enter the championship in high spirits and with strong ambitions, seeking to demonstrate the progress made by the sport in the country and defend the UAE colours with determination against fierce Asian competition featuring the continent’s best emerging talents.
The UAE team will compete across various age categories and weight divisions in Kata and Kumite.
The participating athletes are Razan Muath, Habiba Yasser, Karim Rami, Dana Khalid, Sultan Mohammed Johar, Hamid Saeed Juma, Mohammed Abdullah Al Kindi, and Nada Ahmed.
The team also includes Bakhit Ahmed Obaid Bakhit, Khalifa Ahmed Ahmed Mohammed Al Hajaj, Khalid Abdullah Salem Al Kindi, Faisal Al Khaldi, Shamma Marwan Al Ketbi, Omar Nabil Al Shaltoni, and Mohammed Muath Mahyoub.
The delegation also includes members of the technical, administrative and medical teams, as well as international referee Jaber Al Zaabi, Chairman of the UAE Referees Committee, Vice Chairman of the Asian Karate Federation Referees Committee and a member of the World Karate Federation Referees Committee. International referee Amina Haji, a member of the UAE Referees Committee, is also part of the delegation, along with administrator Fatima Khasif and coaches Waheed Khawaja Hosseini and Mohammed Ibrahim Nader.
The championship will be held at the Arena Hall at Al Hussein Youth City in Amman, with widespread participation from across Asia. The event is expected to feature intense and exciting competition across the various age groups and weight categories, making it an important step in the development of the next generation of karate champions.
The UAE national team hope its participation in Amman will mark another milestone of success, with the athletes aiming to turn their ambitions into medals and raise the UAE flag high on the Asian podium.
