DSC to host closing ceremony for the Dubai Schools Games

DUBAI: The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) is set to host the grand closing and awarding ceremony for the Dubai Schools Games the largest sporting event of its kind in the emirate, on Wednesday in Hall 8 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The prestigious ceremony will witness a high-level presence of top-tier sports leaders, dignitaries, and senior officials from the Dubai Sports Council, the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Education, and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai. They will be joined by key representatives from the public and private schools that competed in this exceptional edition.

This celebratory event crowns an action-packed sports season marked by unprecedented success and record-breaking achievements. The Dubai Schools Games serves as the crucial foundational phase for scouting and developing athletic talent, forming a core component of the emirate’s broader initiative to nurture future sports champions.

Organized in collaboration with operational partner ESM and sponsored by Midea, the tournament reflects the Dubai Sports Council’s strategic vision to establish school sports as the solid base of a healthy sports pyramid. The initiative recognizes the fundamental role of sports in building students’ physical and mental well-being, while simultaneously serving as a golden platform to discover promising youth and supply local clubs with future stars.

This season’s highly competitive agenda featured 25 diverse sports tournaments, encompassing football, volleyball, basketball, handball, table tennis, ice skating, rhythmic gymnastics, fencing, golf, tennis, swimming, badminton, indoor and outdoor cricket, wall climbing, padel, chess, esports, archery, athletics, netball, and karate. Ensuring inclusivity and broad participation, the comprehensive program also included dedicated competitions for People of Determination, alongside a special sports tournament for teachers.

The grand finale will honor outstanding student-athletes and the top-ranking schools across both primary and secondary educational categories following months of intense competition. Ultimately, the success of this tournament underscores the Dubai Sports Council’s unwavering commitment to solidifying the emirate’s position as a premier global hub for discovering, attracting, and nurturing talent across all fields. By building a robust grassroots sports base, the initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of national teams, ensuring exceptional and competitive representation of the UAE on the international stage.
