Election Eve gimmicks

This is in reference to the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamta Banerjee statement that our Prime Minister’s “Sweet Stop” is a scripted one and is an election gimmick. Yes, she is cent per cent right. To be frank, no leader in our country miss such gimmicks on the eve of elections in their State.

We have come across leaders who visit juggi jopdi to have lunch/dinner with the poor, having tea at road side tea stall, fry vada, pakkoda, samosa, make dosa, etc., and supply to the tea stall customers. But this time we came across another gimmick of the poor ladies handing over flower bouquets, which definitely will be costing from Rs.200 to Rs.500, to their leaders and taking selfies.

I think no poor will spend this much to receive the leader, as this amount will fetch them food for at last a week. Of course, copying our Prime Minister, some of the Chief Ministers did travel in Buses and Metro Trains to take selfie with its passengers. Does these not scripted ones?

Every leader do spend crores on advertisement and enacting the scripted scenes. This amount should have been utilised to build Hospitals and Houses for the poor. Unfortunately our voters do fall for such gimmicks than the actual development.
