Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) announced it started disbursing the annual bonuses to owners of old taxi number plates in the emirate for 2025 with a total value of Dhs9.144 million, at a rate of Dhs2,000 per owner.
SRTA also confirmed that monthly compensation payments to beneficiaries would continue as part of supporting this category of low-income individuals with a view to enhancing their standard of living and providing them with the necessities for a decent life.
As many as 4,572 number plate owners, whose vehicles are currently being operated by franchise companies under the umbrella of SRTA, benefited from this bonus, said Eng. Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA.
Meanwhile, Abdul Aziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs at SRTA, affirmed that this step came in compliance with the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his constant concern for following up on the living conditions of citizens, especially owners of old number plates.
The bonuses were disbursed after all approved conditions and instructions had been met, he added, underscoring SRTA’s commitment to easing procedures for eligible recipients without any obstacles.
