UAE warns against counterfeit Botox batch, cites health risks

The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) has issued an urgent warning regarding a counterfeit batch of Botox Cosmetic for Injection 100 Units (Batch Number: C7048C4) After making sure that the mentioned batch number did not match the records of the American company “AbbVie”, the manufacturer of the product.

EDE noted that the product was not imported through the official channels approved by it.

The use of these counterfeit products may pose a risk to public health, as they do not conform to approved specifications and their use may result in harmful health reactions or unexpected complications, it said.

EDE urged healthcare providers, pharmacies and medical facilities to thoroughly verify the authenticity of medical products before using or dispensing them and to immediately cease using or distributing any packages bearing the specified batch number.

It is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist if any unusual symptoms appear after use, it added, stressing the importance of reporting any suspicious products or irregular activities related to the distribution of this batch.
