His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed the construction of a new heritage market overlooking the Pearl Beach in Khor Fakkan and an archaeological site dating back to the 15th century AD at a cost of Dhs8 million.

Sheikh Sultan’s directives were announced by Dr Abdulaziz Almusallam, Chairman of Sharjah Institute for Heritage, via the Direct Line programme.

The project aims to create a new tourist and heritage destination in the city, as the market will include 20 shops designed entirely in the heritage style and a variety of restaurants and cafes to serve visitors.

Construction work is scheduled to be intensified so that the entire project can be completed within 6 months.
