The Sharjah Police General Command, through its Correctional Institution Department, reached a significant milestone by securing first place in the 23rd Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work in 2026. They were recognised in the category of “Best Creator of Voluntary Opportunities” for their initiative called “Dental Treatment and Implants for Inmates of the Correctional Institution Department.” The award ceremony was attended by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development.
Brigadier Faisal Bin Nassar, Director General of the General Department of Prevention and Community Protection, stated that this achievement reflects the General Command’s dedication to promoting a culture of volunteerism and implementing sustainable humanitarian initiatives that improve quality of life. He noted that winning first place showcases the synergy of institutional efforts and the leadership’s dedication to utilizing community partnerships to launch meaningful initiatives with lasting impact. This, in turn, supports the humanitarian work system and enhances the role of the police force in serving the community.
Brigadier Abdullah Rashid Alai, head of the Correctional Institution Department, highlighted an initiative that brought in volunteer doctors from the University of Sharjah, working with various support organisations, to offer dental treatment and implant services to inmates. This initiative not only provided advanced specialized care but also enhanced inmates’ lives and strengthened community partnerships by leveraging the expertise of these volunteer doctors and healthcare professionals.
He noted that this accomplishment was made possible through the dedicated efforts and collaboration of the team members involved. He stressed the significance of cooperation, determination, and willpower in achieving excellence and persistently promoting humanitarian and social values, which play a crucial role in improving inmates’ lives and advancing their reform and rehabilitation process.
