Sharjah Police arrested Asians who were involved in a fight that took place in an area across the emirate and resulted in one being killed and another being injured following a dispute that began through a social media platform before it snowballed into an attack using a bladed weapon.
The incident dated back to a report received by the operations centre about a fight between a number of people in front of a shopping mall in Sharjah, which resulted in two people being stabbed with a sharp instrument.
The competent authorities rushed to the scene of the incident where the National Ambulance transported the injured to the hospital for medical treatment but one of them succumbed to his injuries.
Initial evidence showed that the dispute began on a social media platform and developed into a direct confrontation between some of those involved and then into a fight during which one of them used a bladed weapon.
Following intensive investigations, specialised teams from Sharjah Police managed to identify and apprehend the involved individuals within four hours of the incident and take the necessary legal measures against them.
Sharjah Police stated that disputes on social media platforms should be dealt with through legal channels and that people should not resort to aggressive behaviour or calls for confrontation, stressing that they would firmly enforce the law against anyone who would threaten the security of society or endanger the safety of others.
They called on members of the society to act responsibly when using digital platforms and to report any negative practices aimed at inciting violence or disrupting public order on 901.
