Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) announced the completion of its plan to connect electricity to 2,497 new projects all over Sharjah City during the first half of 2026.
A medium and low voltage network was extended by a total length of more than 167.6 kilometers, while 1,072 electrical distribution panels were approved according to the applicable technical specifications, 3,399 technical inspections were carried out on buildings and projects and 807 preliminary electrical inspection certificates were issued to facilitate the procedures for connecting electricity to subscribers.
In addition, 41,406 maintenance operations were carried out on street lighting assets and more than 3,938 maintenance and technical support procedures were carried out at the electricity distribution stations for the 11 kV network as part of SEWA’s ongoing efforts to develop the infrastructure and support the comprehensive economic and urban development witnessed by the emirate.
The new connections covered various residential, commercial, industrial and governmental projects, reflecting the rapid growth in all sectors and SEWA’s commitment to providing its services with high efficiency and reliability that met the needs of subscribers and new urban expansions, said Eng. Ahmed Al Bas, Deputy Director of Electricity Distribution Department.
SEWA’s work teams were keen to expedite technical inspection processes and connect the service as soon as the approved safety conditions and specifications were met, he added.
SEWA is working to implement the directives of the wise leadership to provide the best basic services to citizens, residents and investors and to streamline service delivery procedures in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety, he said.
Work is underway according to an integrated strategy to upgrade distribution networks and develop existing networks to accommodate additional loads and ensure the reliability and stability of electricity supply to all projects in the emirate, he added.
