The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Friday opened a new bridge in Dubai Harbour, one of the most prominent waterfronts featuring the largest yacht marinas in the Middle East.RTA affirmed that the new bridge provides direct access to Dubai Harbour from Sheikh Zayed Road for those coming from Jebel Ali and Deira areas, which contributes to improving traffic connectivity with the area and facilitating access to it.
The bridge has two lanes in each direction, with a capacity of up to 6,000 vehicles per hour, which supports accommodating the increasing growth in traffic in the area and enhances mobility efficiency for its residents and visitors.
The project will significantly reduce travel time to and from Dubai Harbour, as the access time has decreased from approximately 12 minutes to just 3 minutes, which supports traffic flow and reduces waiting times and congestion at the entrances leading to the area, RTA explained.
The project also includes the implementation of a set of developmental works and surface improvements at intersections along the bridge, with the aim of supporting traffic safety and enhancing the efficiency of the surrounding road network, thereby furthering Dubai’s plans to provide advanced and sustainable infrastructure that meets future growth needs and keeps pace with the rapid urban expansion in various areas of the emirate, RTA stated.
