The Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre (ADREC) has announced a temporary suspension of rent increases across the emirate, a move aimed at supporting the stability and sustainability of Abu Dhabi’s real estate sector.
In a statement, ADREC said rental values for all types of lease contracts will remain unchanged until further notice. The decision applies to both renewed tenancy agreements and newly signed contracts, providing greater certainty for tenants and landlords alike.
Under the measure, the rental amount specified in the most recent lease contract for the same property will serve as the reference value. This means landlords will not be permitted to increase rents beyond the latest contracted rate during the suspension period.
ADREC noted that the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to maintain balance in the property market, enhance transparency and protect the interests of all stakeholders. The authority added that the measure is temporary and will remain in force until a new directive is issued.
The decision is expected to provide relief to tenants while helping ensure market stability and investor confidence.
