Ministry’s Accident-free Summer drive urges UAE motorists…

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) called on drivers to abide by traffic safety procedures as part of its awareness campaign Accident-free Summer, stressing the importance of following 6 basic guidelines before traveling to ensure the safety of individuals and vehicles, especially with the rise in temperature during the summer season and the increase in land trips.

Preventive guidelines include following up on the vehicle’s regular maintenance, ensuring the cooling system (radiator) is in good working order to avoid engine overheating and checking the engine oil and ensuring its efficiency.

The MoI also stressed the need to check the safety of the tyres and brakes, as they play a fundamental role in safe driving, and making sure that the vehicle’s lights and turn signals were working, especially during long trips or night driving.

It is important for motorists to pay attention to the fluid levels in the vehicle in general, the MoI said, adding that motorists need to conduct regular checks before traveling in order to avoid sudden breakdowns that might endanger their lives and the lives of road users.

The Accident-free Summer campaign aims to raise awareness among road users and reduce traffic accidents resulting from negligence or lack of preparedness, stressing the need to ensure the vehicle is ready before setting off in order to preserve the safety of drivers and their companions.

The launch of the campaign coincides with the start of the summer vacation and travel season, which calls for raising awareness of the necessary precautions for the safety of vehicles and road users.

These precautions include ensuring the safety of tyres, carrying out regular maintenance, abiding by the limits of the load allowed on the roof of the vehicle, which does not exceed 60 centimeters in height, ensuring the validity of lighting systems and direction change signals avoiding to leave any flammable materials inside vehicles.
