Loud DJ music kills 140 chickens after they suffer heart …

A poultry farm owner in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur has lodged a police complaint after 140 chickens at his facility reportedly died following exposure to loud music from a passing wedding procession.

According to officials, the incident occurred on the night of April 25, when a baraat (wedding procession) accompanied by a high-decibel DJ system moved close to the farm. The owner alleged that the prolonged and intense noise created panic among the birds, ultimately leading to their deaths.

Brajnarayan Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, confirmed that an inquiry was conducted into the incident. Preliminary findings, supported by a post-mortem examination, indicated that the chickens died due to cardiac arrest triggered by acute stress. Authorities noted that the sudden exposure to extremely loud sound levels can have severe physiological effects on poultry, which are highly sensitive to environmental disturbances.

The farm owner has claimed financial losses and has sought action against those responsible for the DJ music. Police said they are examining the complaint and verifying whether noise levels exceeded permissible limits under local regulations. Further steps will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.

Experts point out that poultry birds are particularly vulnerable to abrupt changes in their surroundings, including loud noises, bright lights, or physical disturbances. Such stressors can lead to panic reactions, injuries, or even death in extreme cases.

The incident has sparked discussion around the regulation of noise levels during social events, especially in areas located near farms or residential zones. Authorities have reiterated the importance of adhering to prescribed sound limits to prevent such occurrences and ensure that public celebrations do not inadvertently cause harm to nearby communities or livestock.
