The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has introduced a new service aimed at enhancing quality of life by meeting customer needs through proactive government services.

This initiative, in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE), and the “Amer” Centre, launches an instant International Driving Permit (IDP) issuance service at the Customer Happiness Centre in Dubai International Airport, Terminal 3 – Arrivals. It’s available for citizens and residents with valid UAE driving licenses.

This service is part of a comprehensive system designed to streamline procedures and speed up transaction processing at key travel locations. It matches the fast pace of travel, offering practical solutions for travellers’ mobility and pre-travel requirements, allowing them to obtain an International Driving Permit in just five minutes.

The success of this service relies on the integration of digital systems among all partner organizations. Customers need to provide their UAE ID card, a valid UAE driving license, a passport copy, and a personal photograph. The system automatically verifies the data and approves the application instantly, ensuring both accuracy and rapid completion in a seamless, 24/7 operational environment.

Major General Khalaf Ahmed Al Ghaith, Assistant Director General for Entry and Residence Permits, highlighted that this initiative is a testament to Dubai’s commitment to evolving government services.

He noted that at GDRFA Dubai, they are dedicated to enhancing the customer experience as part of the smart travel ecosystem, by delivering timely and location-appropriate proactive services.

He further emphasized that the introduction of this service at Dubai International Airport showcases the integration of government agencies and reaffirms Dubai’s capability to provide flexible solutions, simplifying travelers’ lives and strengthening their confidence in the service ecosystem.

He mentioned that such initiatives bolster Dubai’s reputation as a prominent global city known for its high quality of life and efficient services. Additionally, they highlight the dedication of various entities in crafting seamless travel experiences that align with the aspirations of both residents and visitors.

Ahmed Mahboub, Executive Director of the Licensing Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), noted that the service showcases an advanced model of collaboration among strategic partners. It enhances the customer experience by providing instant services at one of the emirate’s key locations, available 24/7.

The introduction of this service at Dubai International Airport underscores the UAE’s status as a leading global example in developing digitally interconnected government services with a human-centric approach, improving quality of life.

It also emphasises Dubai’s leadership in turning these visions into tangible, proactive solutions at essential locations, thereby ensuring smooth travel and strengthening customer confidence in the integrated government service ecosystem.
