Dubai-based Russian’s book advocating long-term thinking …

Dubai-based investor and entrepreneur Ilia Sheludiakov has made his literary debut with Temporalism: Make Time Your Ally, a book advocating long-term thinking over quick-fix solutions.

The Russian expat residing in Dubai for over four years also previously chronicled his own 47-kg weight-loss journey over two years, draws on that experience to champion patience, consistency and sustainable success.

The book, ‘Temporalism: Make Time Your Ally,’ introduces a philosophy that views time as a strategic asset for achieving lasting personal and professional success.

Talking to Gulf Today, Sheludiakov said he is also scheduled to present this book at Sharjah International Book Fair later this year where he will introduce the concept to an international audience.

According to Sheludiakov, Temporalism draws on philosophy, psychology, behavioural science and his experience in investing to argue that meaningful progress is built through consistent actions over time rather than short bursts of intensity.

“Most people spend their lives fighting time. They fear running out of it, regret wasting it and feel overwhelmed by its speed. Temporalism offers a different perspective, where time is not an enemy to defeat but a force that can be consciously directed through intentional choices and consistent action,” he said.

The book explores topics including why time appears to pass more quickly with age, how regret develops through reactive decision-making, and why consistency often produces better long-term outcomes than intensity.

Sheludiakov said “the philosophy can be applied across different aspects of life, including business, health, wealth and relationships, arguing that the same principles behind long-term investment returns can also support lasting personal growth.

“My journey reflects that belief. Even with my weight loss, the transformation was never about finding a quick fix but about understanding how patience and consistency produce lasting results,” he said.

Temporalism is his first book in English. He has previously written a book of poetry in Russian Language.

He is  in the process of writing his second book which is a contiuation of Temporalism but on a broader spectre of topics including AI and the complexities of human life today.

The book is aimed at entrepreneurs, professionals experiencing burnout and readers seeking a more sustainable approach to productivity and personal development, advocating long-term thinking over the pursuit of immediate results.

he pointed that the target audience for the book are people interested in self development, self mastery and those who want to be a better version of themselves. The target audience for the book is also someone who feels they don’t have enough time to finish their work or feel they don’t have enough time in hand. Also he wants to reach out to young adults to be able to read this book and learn the importance of time management.
