Abu Dhabi Police warn against misuse of e-scooters

Abu Dhabi Police, as part of Gulf Traffic Week and in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Centre, warned of the danger of using electric scooters in areas not designated for their use, and without adhering to protective and safety measures, due to the accidents and injuries this may cause, threatening the safety of road users.

The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate stressed the importance of adhering to the use of scooters in designated and safe paths and areas, and staying away from public roads and areas crowded with vehicles, to preserve the safety of their users and others, stressing the necessity of adhering to prevention and safety procedures during use.

The Directorate called on parents to take responsibility for monitoring their children while using scooters, ensuring their commitment to wearing personal protective equipment, including head helmets and knee and elbow pads, in addition to educating them about safe behaviours to avoid accidents and injuries.

Enhancing traffic awareness and committing to using modern means of transportation safely contribute to protecting lives and enhancing community safety, the Directorate indicated.
