Abu Dhabi court obliges man to pay Dhs8,000 compensation …

Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered a man to pay Dhs8,000 in compensation to another, after the latter filed a lawsuit against him for insulting him in public with derogatory words.

The plaintiff requested a judgment obliging him to pay Dhs49,000 as compensation for moral damages, as well as obliging him to pay fees and expenses of the lawsuit.

The plaintiff stated that a criminal case was filed, and the Court of Appeal upheld its verdict, fining the appellee Dhs20,000.

The court clarified in its judgment that any harm to another obliges the perpetrator to compensate, and since the appellee caused moral damage to the plaintiff and his reputation was affected among society, and given that it was proved that the appellee committed a crime which made him subject to punishment, according to what was established in the criminal judgment, the court therefore ordered him to pay Dhs8,000 in compensation for moral damages incurred.
