To develop the infrastructure to meet urban growth requirements, Abu Dhabi City Municipality completed the third phase of a project to create more parking spaces in New Shahama, which incorporated the creation of 87 parking spaces, including 4 parking spaces for people of determination, in co-operation with the Integrated Transport Centre.

This brought to 507 the total number of additional parking spaces created within the project phases including 22 parking spaces designated for people of determination.

As many as 420 parking spaces were created in the first and second phases of the project including 18 spaces designated for people of determination.

The project was aimed to address the shortage of parking spaces and congestion on single-lane roads by replacing parallel parking spaces with perpendicular ones to serve residents and visitors to stores in the area, reduce traffic jams and improve the flow of traffic.

It was part of an integrated plan implemented by Abu Dhabi City Municipality to develop vital transportation routes in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs, keep pace with urban growth and achieve the highest standards of safety and efficiency in transportation.

The project also fell within the municipality’s commitment to upgrading the infrastructure to be more sustainable, comprehensive and responsive to the needs of the population.

It reflected Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s commitment to applying the highest standards of sustainable urban planning and providing an integrated urban environment that would contribute to the comfort and happiness of residents and facilitate their access to all areas and services.

This was part of its ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs through well-thought-out projects aimed at constantly developing the infrastructure and public facilities.
