UAE President and US senator discuss regional developments

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a virtual meeting with US Senator Joni Ernst, during which they discussed strategic cooperation between the UAE and the United States and their shared commitment to further strengthening ties in a way that serves their mutual interests and benefits their peoples.

The meeting also addressed developments in the region and their serious implications for regional and international peace and security, with both sides exchanging views on these developments.

They also discussed the continued Iranian terrorist attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region, including attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. Senator Ernst condemned these attacks, noting that they constitute a violation of sovereignty and international law and norms.

The meeting was attended by Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States.

Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, discussed security developments in the region amid ongoing military escalation and their implications for regional and international peace and security, as well as their impact on international navigation and the global economy.

The meeting also addressed the continued Iranian terrorist aggression targeting the UAE and other countries in the region, including attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. Zelensky reiterated his condemnation of this aggression, noting that it constitutes a violation of sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter and undermines regional and international peace and security.

The two sides also discussed opportunities to advance bilateral cooperation under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and Ukraine, reaffirming their shared commitment to achieving its objectives.

Moreover, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed reiterated the UAE’s support for all efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine.

Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed received a phone call from Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of the Republic of the Congo, to discuss the latest developments in the region and their implications for regional and international peace and security, as well as their impact on the global economy.
