Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has announced a new Bachelor of Science in Design and Artificial Intelligence (BScDAI) with the aim of preparing graduate students for a wide spectrum of careers at the intersection of design, AI, and emerging digital technologies.

The innovative, interdisciplinary programme will equip students with the knowledge and skills to address complex design challenges across a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Developed to respond to the increasing demand for professionals who can combine creativity with intelligent technologies, the programme blends studio-based learning with courses in design, computing, mathematics, and artificial intelligence.

Students will gain a solid foundation in disciplines including visualisation, interaction design, human-computer interaction, programming, computational methods, and AI-enabled design processes, empowering them to develop innovative solutions across spatial, product, and service design.

Commenting on the launch of the programme, Massimo Imparato, Dean of Canadian University Dubai’s School of Architecture and Interior Design, said: “The Bachelor of Science in Design and Artificial Intelligence reflects Canadian University Dubai’s commitment to preparing graduates for a future where creativity and technology are increasingly interconnected.

“As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries and transform the way we address complex environmental and societal challenges, there is growing demand for professionals who can combine design thinking with advanced computational and AI capabilities.”

“We have designed the programme to equip students with the technical ability, creative vision, and ethical understanding needed to create intelligent, human-centred solutions and lead the next generation of innovation across the design industry.”

It is also mentioned that the artificial intelligence continues to transform industries worldwide. The BScDAI programme aims to support the region’s burgeoning design sector by building capacity in creative thinking embedded in computational intelligence.

A key feature of the programme is its emphasis on human-centred and data-informed design.

Students will learn to apply advanced AI techniques, computational tools, and algorithmic thinking to support design decision-making while considering the ethical, social, cultural, and environmental implications of emerging technologies.
