Dubai Police have warned the public against falling victim to electronic fraud schemes related to the sale of sacrificial animals through social media platforms and unverified websites.
They confirmed that fraudsters exploit the season to post fake advertisements that prey on the public’s desire to purchase sacrificial animals at low prices and with attractive offers, aiming to seize money through fraudulent means.
The Force stressed that scammers resort to posting deceptive ads with fabricated images and offers, requesting advance payment to reserve or deliver the sacrificial animal. After receiving the money, the advertiser disappears without delivering the animal or responding to the victim.
Dubai Police urged the public to exercise awareness and caution when purchasing sacrificial animals, not to be drawn in by illogical prices or exaggerated offers, and to verify the reliability of the seller before making any purchase or money transfer. They stressed the importance of dealing only with accredited entities and well-known official platforms, and avoiding unknown or unverified accounts on social media.
Furthermore, the Force also called on the public to immediately report any fraudulent attempts or suspicious accounts displaying misleading advertisements through the official channels, including the eCrime platform, or by calling 901 for non-emergency cases. They affirmed that community cooperation is a key element in curbing these crimes.
