Drone-led rescue saves two hikers trapped in Hatta mountains in Dubai

Dubai Police’s Brave Squad in Hatta rescued two female tourists who were stranded in the middle of Hatta mountains while hiking. The two victims allegedly suffered from exhaustion and were unable to continue walking, so they requested assistance to get them out of the mountain trails, according to Brigadier Mubarak Al Ketbi, Director of Hatta Police Station.

Brigadier Al Ketbi indicated that the two tourists contacted the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations in Dubai Police, requesting assistance. Consequently, the “Brave Squad,” consisting of the “Reconnaissance” and “Rescue” teams, along with patrols from Hatta Police Station and a crew of paramedics from Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, were rushed to the mountainous area and in coordination with the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations and with the help of drones, the location of the two women was accurately identified, and were then transported to the ambulance’s location using specialised mountain descent equipment, where they were provided with the necessary medical care.

Brigadier Al Ketbi urged the public to promptly call the emergency number 999 at the Command and Control Centre in Dubai Police or use the SOS distress service on the Dubai Police app in case of encountering an emergency in mountainous areas and valleys.

It is important to describe the location accurately and clearly for a quick response to the report, as this is crucial for assisting those in need, Brigadier Al Ketbi affirmed, stressing on adhering to designated paths and not deviating from them.
