Sharjah employer sues employee for disclosing company’s s…

Sharjah Misdemeanor Court heard a case in which an employee working for an auto spare parts company was accused of disclosing work secrets and exploiting his position for personal gain by providing others with information and data related to the company without the permission of the company owner.

By virtue of the nature of his work, the accused unlawfully used his company’s internal information and data, exploiting his job privileges to access the company’s account on a social media platform, which he was authorised to use by his employer.

The accused shared that data and information with other parties, which was considered an act that harmed the interests of the company and its owner, especially given the sensitivity of the information being circulated, and the material and moral harms that might result from this act.

During the trial session, the accused denied all the charges against him, stressing that what was said about him was untrue, while his lawyer argued for his acquittal, based on a legal memorandum he submitted to the court.

Meanwhile, the court decided to postpone the lawsuit to a later session to pronounce the verdict after completing its review and examining the case papers and defence memoranda.
