In the age of likes and dislikes I feel children should be given tips on how to stay confident and how to negate criticism because social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook have the potential to upset users. Anyone who has social media accounts is bound to face criticism for no rhyme or reason. Therefore, I feel schoolchildren should be given lessons on how to handle this menace to stay positive. Young minds should have the training on how to overcome this. Suddenly our digital society has become approval-centric.
We all seek approval for whatever we do and I feel this is a really unhealthy practice. We should try to be good and that is enough. I grew up in a pre-internet era where appreciation was the last thing I expected. Until I finished college, i don’t remember receiving appreciation from my parents, teachers or friends. One thing which was constant untill I turned 21 was constantly improving myself in every aspect of life. And that has given me confidence to face professional challenges with ease. So I feel we should train our children too on how to face challenges and stay strong.
