
Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, emphasized during a media briefing on recent updates and the current situation that the UAE’s food security system is a top priority. He assured that the country maintains a stockpile of essential commodities sufficient to last between four to six months.
Bin Touq highlighted that the nation’s strategic reserves guarantee the steady availability of essential commodities and maintain price stability, even during emergencies. He emphasized that the UAE has established an extensive network of partner markets to secure imports of diverse goods and products, along with the capability to swiftly and effectively source alternatives from other markets in times of crises or urgent situations.
Bin Touq also pointed out that the strategic stockpile locations are strategically and effectively distributed across the different regions of the country. This has been achieved with clear directives and steadfast backing from the nation’s wise leadership. He further noted that the import of goods and merchandise is progressing in line with approved plans and at the expected pace, with no signs of any disruptions in the supply chains.
Bin Touq highlighted that the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in collaboration with local economic departments and other relevant entities, carries out daily monitoring of inventory levels at suppliers and commercial centers. They also perform detailed assessments to ensure the sufficiency of each commodity.
