UAE braces for heavy rain as storms sweep multiple regions

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) expects moderate to heavy rainfall at times today in some areas of Al Dhafra, including Liwa, Asab, and Hameem, and in some northern areas, including Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Khor Fakkan.

The NCM called for caution and to stay updated on weather developments.

The NCM said that rains which fell on various parts of the country on Wednesday recorded significant amounts, as the country was affected by a weather condition which was characterised by the formation of convective clouds accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity at intermittent periods.

It added that Al Tuwayyin area in the Emirate of Fujairah topped the list of the highest recorded rainfall amounts with 47.9 mm, followed by Al Marjan area in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah with 39.7 mm, then the city of Khor Fakkan, in the Emirate of Sharjah, with 33.3 mm, while Khatm Al Shaklah area in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi recorded 31.6 mm.

Khor Fakkan Port also recorded a rainfall amount of 28.3 mm, among the areas most affected by the weather condition, the NCM added.
