The General Command of Sharjah Police has seized individuals in possession of 60 tonnes of fireworks, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and security and to combat negative practices that pose a risk to members of society, especially during holidays and official occasions.

Brigadier Ibrahim Musabah Al Ajel, Director General of the General Department of Comprehensive Police Stations, stated that the seizures followed careful monitoring and extensive surveillance, which led to identifying and apprehending the distributors. They were found with large quantities of fireworks prepared for illegal sale. Legal action has been taken against them, and they have been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Al Ajel emphasized that the promotion and random use of fireworks pose a direct threat to public safety, as they can cause injuries and accidents, in addition to disturbing residents and damaging property.

Sharjah Police also urged community members and parents to comply with applicable laws and regulations, raise awareness among children about the dangers of fireworks, and cooperate by reporting any violations via the non-emergency number 901. They reaffirmed the continuation of awareness and inspection campaigns to curb such behaviors and ensure the safety and security of the community.
