Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has strengthened its field readiness by activating its proactive plans following the low-pressure system that the emirate witnessed recently with the aim of ensuring the safety of members of the society and the continuity of traffic flow in all areas.
The efforts included deploying field teams supported by specialised equipment and machinery to deal with rainwater accumulations, working to secure the affected roads and improve their operational efficiency and organising traffic through diversions and alternative routes, thereby contributing to maintaining smooth traffic flow and reducing the effects of weather conditions.
These works were carried out in co-operation and co-ordination with the concerned authorities in the emirate as part of an integrated work system, through which public reports were dealt with immediately and the necessary maintenance works were carried out in the affected sites, which reflected a high level of readiness and fast response to emergency conditions, SRTA said.
SRTA added that it would continue to carry out comprehensive surveys of the road network in the emirate while monitoring and addressing any damages according to approved plans and programmes in order to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the infrastructure.
SRTA urged road users to take caution and abide by traffic instructions and guidelines in order to ensure everyone’s safety during the fluctuating weather conditions.
