Sharjah Municipality mobilised dozens of water tankers across the emirate following heavy rainfall, as authorities moved swiftly to clear flooded streets and restore normalcy.

Teams were deployed to several affected neighbourhoods, including Al Majaz 2, Muwailah, Al Qasimia, Abu Shagara and Al Khan, where rainwater had accumulated on roads and low-lying areas, disrupting traffic flow and daily activities.

Residents reported seeing continuous movement of tankers through the streets, pumping out water and transporting it to designated disposal points. At Al Khan, tankers were observed draining collected water into the sea along the beachfront, as part of a coordinated effort to manage the excess runoff safely.

Municipal crews worked around the clock, supported by field supervisors and emergency response units, to ensure that priority areas were cleared quickly. The operation focused not only on removing standing water but also on easing traffic congestion caused by waterlogged roads.

Officials said the rapid deployment of resources helped minimise disruption and maintain the smooth movement of vehicles across the city. Motorists were able to gradually resume their routines as water levels receded in most of the affected districts.

The municipality emphasised its readiness to respond to weather-related challenges, highlighting the efficiency of its drainage and emergency systems. Authorities also urged residents to exercise caution while driving during such conditions and to follow official advisories to ensure their safety.

The clean-up operation reflects Sharjah’s ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and infrastructure resilience, particularly during periods of unstable weather.
