
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society and a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, announced that Eid Al Adha is expected to fall on May 27, 2026, corresponding to the 10th of Dhu Al Hijjah.
Speaking to Al Khaleej newspaper, Al Jarwan clarified that the new moon marking the start of Dhu Al Hijjah will be born on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 12:01am UAE time.
He further explained that later that evening, the moon will set approximately 58 minutes after sunset, be positioned about 10 degrees above the horizon, and have an age of 18 hours and 56 minutes, making it visible.
According to these calculations, Monday, May 18, 2026, will mark the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah in the Islamic year 1447 AH.
