As part of its ongoing “Be Aware of Fraud” campaign, the Dubai Police warned community members against falling victim to fraudulent insurance companies and offices that exploit some people’s desire to obtain low-cost offers, emphasising that these unlicensed entities have become noticeably active across social media platforms, using misleading marketing tactics to entrap victims and obtain their money.
The Police confirmed that these fraudulent companies rely on publishing attractive ads which include prices lower than market rates, promoting quick and immediate vehicle or health insurance services with fictitious offers, leading some to hastily deal with them and transfer funds without verifying the legality and licensing of the office from the relevant authorities in the UAE.
The Police also urged the public to verify the licensing of the insurance company or broker before completing any payment, and not to be swayed by misleading advertisements or attractive and fictitious offers which do not align with prevailing market prices.
The security authorities are monitoring these activities and working to track them and take legal action against those responsible, Dubai Police affirmed, calling on the public to report any fraudulent attempts immediately via the “eCrime” platform or by calling 901 for non-emergency cases, emphasising its continued efforts to monitor these criminal ways and enhance community awareness to protect individuals from falling victim to such crimes.
