Abu Dhabi Police urged members of the society to abide by using official and approved government or private apps when making purchases or requesting services through digital platforms to avoid fraud from fake links in search engines, stressing that relying on trusted sources contributes to protecting users from falling victim to electronic fraud.

Fraudulent methods evolved to include websites that look trustworthy but are in fact fake pages belonging to some fraudsters, who exploit cheaply advertised ads on search engines to lure victims and steal their personal or financial data, they said.

They stressed the need to check the validity of electronic links, protect credit cards, deal with trusted websites and avoid websites whose credibility is questionable with a view to protecting assets from all kinds of fraud and rely on official apps approved by government entities or available on well-known app stores.

Abu Dhabi Police called on members of the society to immediately report any fraudulent attempt via Aman on the call centre 8002626, via an SMS to 2828, via Abu Dhabi Police smart app, via email ([email protected]) or the police station service in your phone.
