UAE positions AI as a scalable growth engine for healthcare

Gulf Today, Staff Reporter

Artificial Intelligence has rapidly emerged as a practical and scalable solution to some of the most pressing challenges facing modern healthcare systems today. Reflecting this potential, the UAE’s AI healthcare sector—valued at approximately $39 million in 2024—is projected to grow nearly tenfold to $337.9 million by 2033. This strong growth trajectory underscores sustained policy focus and long-term confidence in AI’s role as a transformative force in healthcare delivery.

While innovation remains critical, the real value of AI lies in its ability to deliver measurable outcomes in clinical and operational settings. This requires close collaboration between governments, academia, and industry to ensure that solutions are aligned with real-world healthcare needs.

Recognizing the importance of such collaboration, Arcera Life Sciences recently hosted the ‘Catalyst: Collaborating to Turn AI Vision to Value’ forum in Abu Dhabi. The event brought together leaders from across various sectors to facilitate practical discussions on deploying AI responsibly while ensuring measurable value creation.

The forum discussed how in a digital-first environment, resilience in healthcare is increasingly defined by adaptability. It focused on building resilience across three critical areas: scientific capability, digital infrastructure, and human capital. It also highlighted strengthening local and regional capabilities in medicine development and how manufacturing is essential to reduce reliance on global supply chains. The event also brought to focus how robust AI and data infrastructure ensures secure, efficient, and responsible use of technology.

“Arcera Life Sciences continues to support the UAE’s healthcare transformation by investing across the full value chain in alignment with national priorities. A key focus is strengthening local manufacturing capabilities—with more than 40% of the company’s UAE portfolio now produced locally—enhancing supply chain resilience and supporting national medicine security goals,” said Mansoor Meenai, Head of META Region, Arcera

A recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ISPOR UAE Chapter provides a structured framework to advance evidence-based decision-making and enhance national capabilities in health economics and outcomes research.

“Long-term partnerships play a key role in building trust within the ecosystem. Arcera Life Sciences’ collaboration with the ISPOR UAE Chapter is one such example, focusing on advancing health economics and outcomes research to support the sustainable integration of innovation into healthcare systems,” added Mansoor Meenai.

Looking ahead, Arcera Life Sciences is committed to strengthening healthcare systems across the UAE and the broader Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa region through a combination of innovation, strategic partnerships, and talent development.

With AI at the center of this transformation, the UAE is not only addressing current healthcare challenges but also building a future-ready system capable of delivering better outcomes for patients while driving global leadership in AI-driven healthcare.
