The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the launch of a new trade corridor from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Emirate of Sharjah, in partnership with Gulftainer. This step reflects the depth of economic ties with the United Arab Emirates and aims to enhance the efficiency of logistical connectivity between the two sides.
The new corridor serves as an integrated logistics route directly linking the city of Dammam with the Emirate of Sharjah. It provides multimodal transport solutions, including both maritime and land transport, contributing to faster cross-border shipping and improved operational efficiency. The project also strengthens integration between ports and logistics hubs within the Kingdom, enhancing coordination in managing the flow of goods.
The corridor delivers added value to the logistics sector by reducing transit times, improving the flow of shipments, and increasing the efficiency of goods distribution across markets. It also enhances the reliability of transport services, supporting the stability and sustainability of supply chains amid rapidly evolving global challenges.
Economically, the project is expected to boost trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, support regional trade growth, and enable faster and more efficient access of goods to target markets. It will also strengthen supply chain resilience and improve the readiness of the logistics sector to adapt to international changes.
This initiative aligns with Mawani’s efforts to position Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub connecting three continents, in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
