Nancy Metayer Bowen, a Florida Democratic politician gearing up to run for Congress, was found dead in her home … and police say her husband has been arrested in connection with her death.
Nancy was the vice mayor and commissioner of Coral Springs … and local police say they went to her home Wednesday morning for a wellness check and found her dead body.
Cops say Nancy’s husband, Stephen Bowen, is in custody and her death is being investigated as a domestic violence incident. Police also say there are no additional suspects.
Florida Rep. Jared Moskowitz says Nancy was about to announce she was running for Congress … and the Miami Herald reports the announcement was scheduled for Thursday.
I’m in shock. I was just with her on Saturday. She just buried her brother. She was about to announce she was running for Congress. Nancy was one of the nicest people I worked with. Always fighting for her community, always pushing to help. She had such a future. This is terrible https://t.co/rjWaFneQN7

The outlet, citing sources, reports Nancy was going to run in a Democratic primary for the seat held by Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, who was indicted for allegedly funneling millions of dollars of disaster relief funds to her campaign.
Nancy was elected in 2020 as the first Black and Haitian American woman commissioner of Coral Springs — she was reelected in 2024 — and in November 2025, she was appointed to serve a second term as the city’s vice mayor.
RIP
