The appellant said that the defendant and her minor children assaulted her inside her home by beating, kicking, and pulling her hair, which resulted in her sustaining multiple injuries, as confirmed in the medical report, including bruises, wounds, and scratches in various parts of her body, incapacitating her from performing her work for twenty days.
The plaintiff stated that she filed a report about the incident, and a judgment was issued in absentia convicting the defendants.
The judgment ordered the juveniles to be placed in a juvenile institution with a stay of execution of the measures, and the mother was sent to jail for one month with a stay of execution. The judgment became final as it was not appealed.
According to the judgment, the defendant’s assault caused material damages to the plaintiff, as she was unable to work and incurred expenses for treatment, transportation, and legal procedures, in addition to moral damages.
The court clarified that it reviewed the previous criminal case documents and the details of the assault contained, and then estimated the compensation for the material and moral damage suffered by the plaintiff at Dhs20,000.
