A man was seen sailing on a makeshift float through flooded streets in the Al Khan area of Sharjah, as heavy rains continued to lash parts of the country, leaving several low-lying areas waterlogged and difficult to navigate.
The unusual sight, captured on video and shared widely on social media, highlighted the extent of flooding caused by the ongoing unstable weather conditions. Streets in Al Khan appeared submerged, forcing some residents to improvise as water levels rose and mobility became challenging.
Authorities have repeatedly urged residents to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary, warning of hazardous conditions on the roads, including water accumulation, reduced visibility, and the risk of accidents. Motorists were advised to avoid flooded areas and to follow official traffic advisories issued during the adverse weather.
In addition to road safety concerns, residents have also been cautioned to exercise extreme care when using electrical appliances and connections. Officials stressed the importance of keeping electrical systems away from water to prevent short circuits or potential electrocution incidents, particularly in flooded homes or buildings.
The weather situation is being closely monitored by the National Centre of Meteorology, which has forecast continued chances of rainfall across parts of the UAE. Emergency response teams and municipal authorities remain on standby to address any incidents and ensure public safety.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official channels and adhere to safety guidelines as the country continues to experience fluctuating weather conditions.
