War-bruised economy sparks leaders’ concern

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday received a phone call from Dr Nataša Pirc Musar, President of Slovenia, during which she condemned the continued Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region, including attacks on civilians, civilian infrastructure, and vital facilities, noting that they constitute a violation of sovereignty and international law, and undermine regional security and stability.

Nataša Pirc Musar affirmed Slovenia’s solidarity with the UAE and its support for the measures being taken to safeguard its security, stability, and territorial integrity, and ensure the safety of its people and residents.

She also commended the UAE’s management of the situation and the effectiveness of its measures to ensure the safety of its people, residents, and visitors.

The two sides discussed the implications of the ongoing military escalation for regional and international peace and security, as well as its significant impact on the global economy.

Both sides underscored the need to contain the escalation and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy to address outstanding regional issues in a way that preserves security and stability and prevents further crises.

The call also reviewed various aspects of cooperation between the two countries and opportunities to further develop ties, with both sides affirming their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in support of the development ambitions of both nations and their peoples.

Sheikh Mohamed also received a phone call from Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, to discuss the latest developments in the region and their implications for regional and international security and stability, as well as their impact on the global economy.

The call addressed the continued Iranian terrorist attacks targeting the UAE and other countries, including attacks on civilians, civilian infrastructure, and vital facilities, noting that they constitute a violation of sovereignty, international law, and undermine regional and international stability.

Anwar Ibrahim reiterated his condemnation of these terrorist attacks and commended the UAE’s management of the situation and the effectiveness of its measures to ensure the safety of its people, residents and visitors.

Both sides underscored the need to contain the escalation and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy to address outstanding issues in a way that preserves regional security and stability.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, extended his sincere condolences during a phone call with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the friendly Republic of Türkiye, over the martyrdom of a helicopter crew.

Sheikh Abdullah extended his heartfelt condolences to the Republic of Türkiye over the martyrdom of Major Sinan Taştekin from Qatar – Turkiye Joint Forces, as well as Suleiman Cemra Kahraman and Ismail Anas Can, who were among the crew of a helicopter that crashed into Qatar’s territorial waters following a technical malfunction.

Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the UAE’s full solidarity with the friendly Republic of Türkiye in this painful tragedy.

He also expressed his sincere condolences to Türkiye and to the families of the martyrs, praying to Allah Almighty to grant them His vast mercy and to protect the friendly Republic of Türkiye and its people from all harm.

Sheikh Abdullah late on Monday held calls with a number of foreign ministers to discuss the latest regional developments amid Iran’s continued unprovoked and terrorist missile attacks targeting the UAE and several countries in the region.

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed held discussions with José Manuel Albares, Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain; Lê Hoài Trung, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Mohamed Salem Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad; Tom Berendsen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The calls addressed the grave consequences of Iran’s unprovoked and terrorist missile attacks, which risk undermining regional and international security and threatening global economic stability and energy security.

Sheikh Abdullah, along with the ministers, strongly condemned Iran’s unprovoked and terrorist missile attacks.
