The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) emphasized that the safety of the workforce remains a top priority amid current weather conditions. The ministry stressed that business continuity is a shared responsibility requiring active commitment from both employers and employees through the implementation of precautionary measures that ensure a safe work environment and reduce risks at workplaces and labour accommodations.
The ministry, through its online platform, called for thorough risk assessments at work sites, especially open-air sites, and the rescheduling of high-risk tasks if necessary, while ensuring the readiness of drainage systems to prevent any water accumulation that could affect worker safety and workflow.
Regarding labour accommodations, the ministry underlined the importance of preventing water accumulation inside or around the facilities, conducting periodic inspections of electrical installations, providing basic necessities for workers, and ensuring rapid response to any emergencies arising from weather fluctuations.
The ministry also emphasized the need to organize worker transportation according to weather conditions by adjusting work schedules when necessary, ensuring technical readiness of transport means, and instructing drivers to adhere to the highest safety standards and cautious driving on roads.
Furthermore, MOHRE stressed the importance of clear emergency plans, assigning responsible personnel at each site for on-site supervision and coordination, and maintaining continuous communication with relevant authorities to guarantee rapid intervention when needed.
Finally, the ministry reminded everyone to be aware of emergency numbers in the UAE: Police (999), Civil Defence (997), and Ambulance (998), to ensure immediate response in case of any accident or emergency.
