Abu Dhabi, the capital city, has been witnessing heavy rainfall since early morning, impacting numerous areas and suburbs. The downpour has been accompanied by lightning, thunder, and a noticeable dip in temperature.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted intermittent rainfall of varying intensity over the next few days across several parts of the country.
According to the NCM, on Tuesday, the northern, eastern, and southern regions are likely to experience rain during the day, while the western, coastal, eastern, and island regions are expected to receive showers by night.
The NCM stated that scattered showers are expected across the country on Wednesday, with heavier rainfall anticipated in the eastern parts and Al Ain during the night. However, the likelihood of rain is expected to decrease later that night.
On Thursday, a slight chance of rain is forecast for the morning, with rainfall returning in the afternoon in the northern and eastern parts, including Al Ain. By night, this rain may extend to coastal areas, islands, and western areas.
For Friday, the NCM predicts that rain will initially begin over islands and coastal areas before spreading to cover most parts of the country.
In light of the current weather conditions, characterized by fluctuations and strong winds, the Ministry of Interior has underscored the need to follow preventive measures to safeguard public safety.
The Ministry has urged residents to limit outdoor activities to essential needs, avoid travel during periods of high winds, and prioritize safety at all times. Drivers are advised to reduce speed, maintain safe distances from other vehicles, and only drive when absolutely necessary. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of staying calm and vigilant, steering clear of valleys and flood-prone areas, refraining from venturing out to sea, and avoiding regions prone to water accumulation.
The public is encouraged to rely solely on information from official sources and to refrain from sharing rumors or unverified details.
The Ministry further recommended securing loose items, ensuring the safety of balconies and rooftops, and removing potentially hazardous materials from outdoor spaces. It reiterated that adhering to these guidelines is vital for collective well-being, emphasizing that safety is a shared responsibility.
