Rain of varying intensity, ranging from drizzles to moderate and heavy, fell on separate areas across the UAE on Saturday in a scene that brought back refreshing breezes to the atmosphere and drew attention to the weather fluctuations during this period.

The rain was accompanied by a relative drop in temperature and a noticeable increase in wind activity, which helped moderate the weather and alleviate the heat, while cumulus clouds created distinctive natural scenes in the UAE skies. The rainy weather was widely welcomed across the UAE.

This weather pattern is part of the seasonal changes the country experiences, with increased chances of cloud formation and intermittent rainfall, particularly in inland and mountainous areas.

Warning to citizens and residents to be cautious

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior alerted citizens and residents to take precautions as rain and strong winds were expected, possibly accompanied by thunder, lightning, and lower visibility.

Earlier, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said the country was expected to experience rain of varying intensity at intervals, starting Saturday and lasting for seven days, possibly accompanied by hail on some areas and winds of varying strength. The NCM urged the public to take caution and follow the instructions of official authorities to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Active winds

Regarding the expected weather conditions in Abu Dhabi from Saturday, March 21st to Friday, March 27th, 2026, the NCM stated that Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra regions would experience rain of varying intensity at intervals, possibly accompanied by hail. The winds would be active, ranging from brisk to strong and dust-stirring, causing the horizontal visibility to be lower, it added.

The weather today (Sunday) will be partly cloudy to cloudy with some cumulus clouds and a chance of rain on separate areas. Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds will blow, turning to active to strong and dust-stirring at times at 15 to 25 and up to 45 km/h, causing the horizontal visibility to be lower, while the waves will be moderate, turning to rough at times when there are clouds in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
